Sarawak Metro is currently implementing the Kuching Urban Transportation System (KUTS) project, which is under the purview of Ministry of Transport Sarawak, to minimise traffic congestion as well as to spur greater productivity and economic growth. The hydrogen-powered autonomous Rapid Transit, the first in Southeast Asia, will be the backbone of the KUTS and it will be complemented by Sarawak Metro’s network of feeder busses that will provide the ‘First and Last Mile Connectivity’ for commuters in Greater Kuching. The project is scheduled for pilot testing by the third quarter of 2023, and is planned to begin full operations in stages by the fourth quarter of 2025.
