Encik Zulkiflee is currently a Non-Executive Chairman of Small Medium Enterprise Development Bank Malaysia Berhad since 6 March 2026. Encik Zulkiflee is also an Independent Non-Executive Director of Hong Leong MSIG Takaful Berhad and Al Rajhi Banking & Investment Corporation (Malaysia) Bhd. He was previously a Board Member of GuocoLand (Malaysia) Berhad and Hong Leong Bank Berhad (HLB).
Encik Zulkiflee brings over 35 years of experience in the banking industry. He began his career with Citibank Malaysia in 1979 and rose to the position of Vice President before leaving in 1991. He subsequently joined Deutsche Bank Malaysia, where he served as Deputy Managing Director from 1991 to 1997, overseeing Corporate Banking, International Trade Finance, Operations, and Transaction Banking Services.
From 1998 to 2011, Encik Zulkiflee was the Executive Director of HLB. Prior to his retirement in 2015, he was HLB’s Chief Operating Officer, Group Strategic Support from November 2011 to January 2015.
Throughout his tenure at HLB, he was responsible for a wide portfolio encompassing Branch and Banking Operations, Integrated Risk Management, Credit Management, Information Technology, Islamic Banking, Wholesale and Retail Operations, as well as Legal and Corporate Communications & Public Relations.
