BANK PEMBANGUNAN MALAYSIA AWARDS OUTSTANDING MALAYSIAN STUDENTS WITH SCHOLARSHIPS WORTH RM1.1 MILLION PER ANNUM FOR THE NEXT THREE YEARS

Monday, 30 August 2021, Kuala Lumpur – Nurturing its commitment to develop “Leaders of Tomorrow,” Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Berhad (“BPMB”) today announced that four outstanding Malaysian students were accorded with scholarships to pursue their undergraduate studies abroad under the Bank’s 2021 Undergraduate Scholarship Award.

 

Despite the pandemic, BPMB remains committed to offer scholarships to deserving recipients with an estimated sponsorship of RM1.1 million per annum for the next three years. To-date, BPMB has awarded a total of more than RM6 million by way of scholarships to thirteen outstanding Malaysian students.

 

In line with BPMB’s on-going commitment in championing the Sustainability agenda, the Award, which was established in 2013 is part of the Bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility (“CSR”) initiative. The primary mission of this initiative is to make quality education accessible to deserving outstanding Malaysian students to pursue their undergraduate studies at leading universities abroad.

 

A virtual award presentation ceremony was held earlier today, whereby the event was officiated by BPMB’s Chairman, Y.Bhg. Dato’ Sri Nazir Razak. Also present were BPMB’s President/Group Chief Executive Officer, Arshad Mohamed Ismail, along with the Bank’s senior management team.

 

The recipients of BPMB’s 2021 Undergraduate Scholarship Awards are as follows;

  1. Kaartik A/L Nagarajan, 21, BSc in Computer Science
  2. Irfan Qureshi bin Mohamad Aslam, 19, BSc in Computer Science
  3. Aimi Nabilah binti Baharudin, 21, Bsc Actuarial Science
  4. Audra Qistina binti Azli, 19, Bachelor of Law

 

BPMB’s President/Group Chief Executive Officer, Arshad Mohamed Ismail said, “We want to nurture “Leaders of Tomorrow” at the source by securing high potential talents whilst they are still studying at tertiary level and who eventually will be part of the organisation to drive and deliver value for Malaysia’s developmental needs. I am truly impressed by the recipients of our scholarships this year. Not only do they excel in their studies, they have demonstrated admirable leadership qualities at a young age. I welcome our new Scholars to take this opportunity to chart their journey and be ready to lead in the next five years.”
