KUALA LUMPUR, 6 JULY 2020 – Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Berhad (BPMB) contributed 2 haemodialysis machines, a cargo lorry and asnaf home repair assistance in Kedah. These contributions are part of the smart partnership and collaboration between BPMB and Lembaga Zakat Negeri Kedah (LZNK).

BPMB President/Group Chief Executive Officer, Arshad Mohamed Ismail, presented the machines to Dr. Aniza Ahmat, Director of Hospital Sik, witnessed by LZNK Chief Executive Officer Syeikh Zakaria Othman. The contribution of the machines, worth RM70,000 is part of BPMB’s effort in helping dialysis patients from underprivileged asnaf and communities in order to provide them with better access to quality dialysis treatment and healthcare services.

“We hope our contribution to Hospital Sik will enhance the health service delivery in Kedah, especially for patients in Sik,” stated Arshad. The new machines from BPMB will enable Hospital Sik to treat more patients who are currently on the hospital’s waiting list.

Also present at the ceremony were BPMB senior management personnel, the LZNK management team as well as senior officials from the hospital.

BPMB had earlier contributed towards the purchase of a cargo lorry for LZNK worth RM140,000 for the purpose of transporting basic food supplies and items by LZNK to the designated distribution centres such as asnaf Food Bank centres throughout Kedah. The cargo lorry contribution will enable LZNK to have better coordination and efficiency in logistics and distribution plans towards the asnaf community in Kedah. BPMB ended the trip with a visit to an asnaf family whose house it had helped to repair.

BPMB, as a caring development financial institution in Malaysia, will continue to play its social finance role and establish smart partnership and collaboration with relevant parties in providing financial support for targeted asnaf groups and their development through its high-impact zakat initiatives moving forward.
