BANK PEMBANGUNAN MALAYSIA BERHAD PAVES THE WAY FOR LOCAL STATE-OF-THE-ART DATA CENTRE

 

 

Wednesday, 6 March 2024, Kuala Lumpur - Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Berhad (Bank Pembangunan) today announced its support in advancing Malaysia’s digital infrastructure with the provision of Tawarruq Asset Financing Facilities totaling RM253.5 million to Pi Data Centre Sdn Bhd (“PiDC”) for the construction of a state-of-the-art Tier III Data Centre in Cyberjaya, Selangor.

 

Roni Abdulwahab, Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of Bank Pembangunan, expressed his enthusiasm about the project, stating, “Bank Pembangunan is proud to contribute to Malaysia’s digital transformation journey by supporting the construction of this cutting-edge data centre. This partnership underscores Bank Pembangunan's commitment to delivering impact capital for national development and we believe that investments in digital infrastructure are crucial for driving economic growth and enhancing the country’s competitiveness on the global stage.”

PiDC is designed to achieve LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Silver and GreenRe Gold certifications, demonstrating its commitment to eco-friendly practices in design, construction, and operations. Additionally, PiDC plans to provide industry training and exposure to students from vocational training institutes and universities, contributing to the development of a skilled workforce and fostering innovation in the digital sector.

Pi Data Centre Sdn Bhd (PiDC) was incorporated on 28 November 2019 to undertake the development of an Uptime Institute Certified Tier III Data Centre (DC) Campus in Cyberjaya, Selangor. It is a subsidiary of PiDC Holdings Sdn Bhd (PiDCH). PiDCH has been in the DC colocation business in Malaysia over the past decade and the PiDC development represents an extension of its business in this fast-growing digital infrastructure industry.
