With Sabah increasingly in need of assistance in combating the unprecedented spread of Covid-19 in the state, Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Berhad has stepped up by collaborating with Yayasan Ikhlas to produce and donate PPE equipment’s for healthcare front liners.

The bank is donating 10,000 sets of Personal Protective Equipment to be utilised by two selected hospitals in Semporna and Tawau, Sabah. BPMB’s senior management team represented by its Chief Financial Officer, Zulkeefli Mad Karim and Group Head of Shariah Management, Mohamad Salihin Deris attended the donation presentation ceremony recently in Petaling Jaya. Also present at the ceremony were YBhg. Dato’ Mohd Rosli Ramli, Chairman, Yayasan Ikhlas and Ir. Haji Kamaruddin Kassim, General Manager, Yayasan Ikhlas. President/Chief Executive Officer of BPMB, Arshad Mohamed Ismail said that this contribution signals BPMB’s commitment in helping to ease the burden of the healthcare front liners in Sabah who are working tirelessly to ensure the safety of all Malaysians.

“Sabah has seen a rapid surge in COVID-19 positive cases recently. Thus, BPMB heeds to the call to continue playing our role as a responsible corporate citizen to join the efforts to address the third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. Through our humble contribution, we hope that this will serve as an impetus for the government to help curb the spread of the pandemic, whilst also positively impacting the nationwide prevention, detection, and health treatment efforts – especially in Sabah,” said Arshad.

BPMB is a regular in these efforts, with this being its second collaboration with Yayasan Ikhlas, whereby earlier 17,500 sets were successfully delivered to Sabah and Sarawak back in July and September 2020. In total, this partnership has borne fruit to approximately 27,500 sets of PPE to Sabah and Sarawak amounting to approximately RM1, 064,700.
