KUALA LUMPUR, 21 February 2024

Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Berhad (BPMB) brought the vibrancy of Chinese New Year to life as it shared joy with 60 residents of Beautiful Gate Foundation for the Disabled in Petaling Jaya today (Feb 21). The celebration, underlining BPMB’s commitment to social impact, saw the Bank extending its contribution of RM15,000 to support the operations of the charity home.

The day kicked off with an enchanting lion dance performance followed by a Chinese New Year-themed feast for the residents.

During his address, Roni Abdulwahab, BPMB’s Group Chief Executive Officer, highlighted, “At Bank Pembangunan, we place a strong emphasis on inclusivity, recognizing its significance in national development. Celebrating festivities together helps build stronger bonds within the community and allows for an extension of meaningful support in various ways.

Balancing social impact and economic growth is at the heart of our organization’s mission. Our vision extends beyond financial transactions; we are committed to delivering impact capital for national development.”

Ivy Pua, the charity home’s Acting Executive Director, expressed her gratitude saying, “Every resident deserves the joy of Chinese New Year, and we are truly thankful for today’s celebration. We hope that corporate organisations like Bank Pembangunan will continue bringing smiles to those disabled and less fortunate, fostering a sense of community and compassion.”

The event, involving the charity home residents and staff, was also attended by BPMB’s Board of Directors, Senior Leadership Team, and staff.

BPMB’s active CSR role extends beyond celebrations, contributing to the development of our communities. This reflects the Bank’s commitment to community engagement and reinforces its commitment to being a socially responsible corporate citizen.

In addition to supporting community developments, BPMB is also actively engaged in other CSR initiatives, focusing on financial literacy, women empowerment, and environmental sustainability (through its subsidiary ALAM).
