ALAM JOINS FORCES WITH KBPM, ZTE AND PMI FOR MANGROVE PLANTING PROGRAMME

ALAM, the foundation spearheaded by Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Berhad (BPMB), continues to demonstrate its unwavering commitment to environmental sustainability through active participation in mangrove planting initiatives. In collaboration with Kelab Belia Prihatin (KBPM), ZTE Malaysia Berhad (ZTE), and the Project Management Institute (PMI), ALAM recently embarked on another mangrove planting programme.

On 6 June 2023, ALAM, KBPM, ZTE, and PMI joined forces for a mangrove planting project in Taman Rekreasi Paya Bakau Kampung Sijangkang, Selangor. The primary objective of this programme was to promote environmental conservation and raise awareness about the urgent need for mangrove forest restoration in Malaysia. Furthermore, it aligns with the Government's ongoing "100 million tree planting by 2025" campaign, part of the "Penghijauan Malaysia" agenda initiated in 2021.

Together, the collaborative effort led to the successful planting of 100 mangrove saplings by 15 dedicated volunteers. This achievement not only contributes to biodiversity conservation but also provides numerous ecological benefits, including coastal protection and carbon sequestration.

So far, with the overwhelming support from BPMB staff, ALAM has planted 1,300 mangrove saplings under our We Be-Leaf programme banner. Stay tuned for the announcement of upcoming planting sessions with BPMB staff in Johor and Terengganu.

Through active participation in such initiatives, BPMB has demonstrated its corporate responsibility, contributing to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 14 (Life Below Water) and Goal 15 (Life on Land).

We extend our deepest appreciation to every BPMB team member who took part in this programme, as well as our partner organisations. It is through their collaborative spirit and unwavering dedication that this project has achieved remarkable success.
