THE STAR – BPMB Appoints New Head of Business and Investment Banking

Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Berhad (BPMB) has announced the appointment of Encik Zainul Hashim as the Executive Vice President / Head of Business and Investment Banking, effective 19 February 2016.

In his new role, Zainul will oversee the activities of Business Banking, Investment Banking and Group Treasury divisions.

An 18-year veteran, Zainul has played key roles in the origination and execution of fund-raising exercises across various economic sectors including Danalnfra Nasional Berhad’s fund raising and Malaysia’s first Exchange Traded Bonds/Sukuk; Valuecap Sdn Bhd Redeemable Bonds Programme; and cross-border financing for International Finance Corporation (World Bank), KfW Bankengruppe (German Development Bank) and Gulf Investment Corporation (Kuwait).

Most recently he was Head of Debt Markets at AmInvestment Bank Berhad (AmInvestment Bank), overseeing Debt Markets; Credit Ratings Advisory; Project Financing; Capital and Project Advisory group. Prior to AmInvestment Bank, he was with the Royal Bank of Scotland (M) Berhad and ABN AMRO Bank (M) Berhad, responsible for debt market and Islamic financing activities in Malaysia and Dubai.

Zainul was a regulator with the Labuan Offshore Financial Services Authority, the Malaysian offshore financial center. Zainul who holds a Capital Markets (CMSRL) license, received his BSc from London and obtained his LLM (Banking) from the International Islamic University, Malaysia. Zainul is also a member of the management committee of MCOBA, and NGO.
