NEW STRAITS TIMES – Zainul named VP of Bank Pembangunan

Kuala Lumpur – Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Berhad (BPMB) has announced the appointment of Zainul Hashim as its Executive Vice-President / Head of Business and Investment effective last Friday.
He would oversee the activities of the business banking, investment banking and group treasury divisions, the bank said in a statement.

An 18-year veteran, Zainul has played key roles in the origination and execution of fund-raising exercises in various sectors, including DanaInfra Nasional Bhd’s fund-raising, Malaysia’s first exchange traded bonds/sukuk, and Valuecap Sdn Bhd’s redeemable bonds programme.

He was also involved in the cross-border financing for World Bank’s International Finance Corporation, German Development bank KfW and Gulf Investment Corporation in Kuwait.

Before his appointment, Zainul was head of debt markets at AmInvestment Bank Bhd, prior to which he was with the Royal Bank of Scotland (M) Bhd and ABN AMRO Bank (M) Bhd as well as a regulator with the Labuan Offshore Financial Services Authority.

Zainul, who holds a Capital Markets license, received his Bachelor of Science from London and obtained his LLM (Banking) from the International Islamic University Malaysia.
