THE EDGE MARKETS - Bank Pembangunan appoints new president/group CEO

KUALA LUMPUR (April 8): Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Bhd (BPMB) has appointed Arshad Mohamed Ismail as its president/group chief executive officer, effective today.

In a statement today, BPMB said Arshad was the head of global banking business at Maybank Islamic Bhd prior to his appointment.

He was also formerly HSBC Amanah’s head of Islamic capital markets, head of asset management at Saudi Arabia’s Aayan Capital, head of corporate finance and advisory at Abu Dhabi’s Al Hilal Bank and executive director, origination and structuring of International Islamic Liquidity Management Corporation.

In early 2003, he joined CIMB Islamic as one of its pioneer members where he focused on sukuk origination and execution before relocating to the UAE in late 2004 to join HSBC Amanah as the head of Islamic capital markets.

It said Arshad holds a Bachelor of Law degree from the International Islamic University Malaysia and a Masters in Business Administration from the London Business School, United Kingdom.
